The Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (RQF) is a nationally recognised, one day qualification designed to prepare individuals to act as an Emergency First Aider in the workplace.
Delivered by Black Onyx Academy, this course meets the requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1982, ensuring organisations remain compliant with their legal duty of care.
The qualification provides learners with the knowledge and practical skills required to assess emergency situations, deliver life saving first aid, and manage common workplace injuries until professional medical help arrives.
This course is suitable for:
Learners are recommended to be 14 years of age or over and should have a minimum of Level 1 English or equivalent.

Assessment Methods
The qualification is graded Pass or Refer and is valid for 3 years from the date of certification.
The Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (RQF) provides learners with the essential knowledge and practical skills required to respond confidently to life-threatening emergencies in the workplace.
Designed for nominated workplace first aiders, this qualification meets the requirements of the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 for organisations whose first aid needs assessment identifies the need for Emergency First Aid at Work provision. Learners will gain the confidence to assess incidents, administer life-saving first aid, and provide effective casualty care until the arrival of the emergency services.
Through a combination of classroom learning and practical scenarios, participants will develop the competence to manage a range of emergency situations, including unconscious casualties, CPR and AED use, choking, severe bleeding, shock and minor injuries.
Although the qualification is valid for three years, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) recommends annual refresher training to maintain confidence, competence and familiarity with current best practice.
