Our Corporate Social Responsibility programme is built around prevention, empowerment and sustainable pathways into employment, with a strong focus on young people and military veterans.

S.A.L.T. (Save A Life Today) Workshops

S.A.L.T. is a flagship prevention and education initiative addressing the rise of serious violence and knife crime among young people. Delivered in schools, colleges, community settings and workplaces, S.A.L.T. workshops provide:

Emergency first aid and catastrophic bleeding control training.

Situational awareness and personal safety education.

Conflict management and decision making under pressure.

Awareness of the consequences of violence for individuals, families and communities.

S.A.L.T. empowers young people with practical, life-saving skills while promoting responsibility, resilience and early intervention.

Veteran Mentorship and Youth Engagement

Black Onyx integrates veterans into frontline community impact roles, using lived experience to positively influence young people. Veteran mentors deliver workshops and ongoing engagement focused on:

Leadership, discipline and positive character development.

Confidence, identity and emotional resilience.

Guidance around choices, behaviour and accountability.

Aspirational role modelling and long-term mentoring.

This approach benefits both young people and veterans by creating purpose, connection and shared responsibility.

Veteran Employment and Training Pathways

Through Black Onyx Academy, our in-house Highfield accredited training division, we provide structured education and employment routes for service leavers and veterans, including those from justice, homelessness and transition pathways.

Training and progression includes:

Accredited qualifications in first aid, conflict management, safeguarding and security.

S.A.L.T. instructor certification.

Digital operations and operational readiness training.

Clear progression into paid roles within Black Onyx, including Mobile Response Teams.

This model ensures veterans gain recognised qualifications, stable employment and long-term career development.
